The modern LGBTQ movement was sparked by a riot at The Stonewall Inn 50 years ago. Since then, that spark has spread from a radical grass roots counterculture to a global mainstream movement. Everyone involved has their own unique story. Collectively, each story adds up to create a vivid narrative of the movement. In 2019 the world will celebrate the birth of this spirit with us.

This work was done in 2014 for NYC Pride’s bid for World Pride Day. Since then, New York City was chosen as the location for World Pride Day 2019 and this work won a Gold Award in Graphis Logo Design 9. I designed the logo, brand system and strategic activations shown here. The identity comes to life though the idea of “Millions of Moments of Pride” which reimagines military heraldry and enlistment patches for a modern grass-roots movement. 50 years is a badge of honor. A battle flag flown in the face of exclusion, now more than ever.
