I created the logo concept, designed the brand system sketches along and strategic activation ideas. The work was done in 2014, so everything was created with the intention that it would be revisited closer to the event. Since then, New York City was chosen as the location for World Pride Day 2019.

The modern LGBTQ movement was sparked by a riot at The Stonewall Inn 50 years ago. Since then it has grown from a semi-militant counterculture organization to a mainstream family oriented community. In our celebration of the movement we didn’t want to white wash the early years, but we didn’t want to drape them in golden spotlights either. The Stonewall 50 identity takes a cue from military heraldry and enlistment patches and reimagines them for a grass-roots community. Millions of Moments of Pride is the creative expression which comes to life in the many fractured and colorful pieces the identity is made up from.
